For Another Day of Life

By Bevan King

In the purple bleak of night I pounded the heavy door
But no one would answer me, what were they waiting for?
With bloodless hands I beat once more, and fought with all my might
But no one would answer me in this purple bleak of night

I sensed the cold, I could not feel, an earth I could not touch
Was this my death, or just the grave…a box of living dust?
A dream I pray, a ghost I fear, a soul not right with God
Please wake me from this thing I fear, a dream that haunts my life!

A pounding noise, the lights too bright, my head I hold so tight
Awake, alas, the crisis passed … I did not take my life
Another day, another day, and foe becomes a friend
This pain I feel is mine alone, to live this dream again.
