Mother birthed a blonde baby bundle.
My mop of hair growing up, a boring brown.
For decades, me, almost a wooden picture frame
spending big money, keeping this brown habit topside.
A senior now, feeling like a daredevil circus performer
ready to go into the ring, gamble with a daring act.
Would ending color help me look youthful? Could anything?
How would one know unless one tried?
Storming in, my hair a holocaust, brown, gray mixed with white,
swirling, unpredictable, a tornado with no control, until
a blanket of a snow white arrived, stayed. Took command.
The vanilla ice cream look seems to work. I like its flavor.
Bright colors, perky scarves boost confidence, dodge a wash out.
A cool, confident oldster with a lot more spending money,
that’s me!
