Dorothy “D.A.” Hankins died peacefully at the ARC on Saturday, April 25, 2026; she was 95. Her memorial service will be held in the Cheever (ARC) Chapel on Wednesday, May 13, at 10 am, with a reception immediately following in the Sky Lounge until 1 pm, where friends and family are invited to gather. Committal will be at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery the same day at 2:30 pm.
D.A. is preceded in death by her husband William B. “Hank” Hankins (USMA ’45) and her sister Fredlynne G. Puett, both residents of the ARC; a son, William “Brev” Hankins, III; and a granddaughter, Anastasia Hankins. She is survived by three children, Andrea “Andy” Schellman, Matthew Hankins, Elisabeth “Lissa” Dillon, their spouses, 12 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, three nephews, and many other cherished relatives.
