JOB TITLE: Human Resources Coordinator
POSITION REPORTS TO: Human Resources Director
PURPOSE OF JOB: Works closely with Human Resources Director to support all assigned functional areas including; benefits administration, employee relations, performance management, onboarding, policy implementation, retention/employment, affirmative action and employment law compliance. Responsible for interpretation and effectively communicating said policies/procedures to internal and external customers.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Assists with benefits administration to include claims resolution, change reporting, approving invoices for payment and communicating benefit information to employees.
• Assists with employee relations inquiries and counseling
• Conduct investigations in response to employee complaints
• Assist employees with FMLA and LOA request
• Assist with responding to Unemployment Claims and hearings
• Works directly with payroll for weekly entries into MatrixCare
• Administers 403b plan, enters new hires, terminates employees, assists with loans and distributions
• Administers various human resource plans and procedures for all company personnel; assists in the development and implementation of personnel policies and procedures
• Recommends new approaches, policies and procedures to effect continual improvements in efficiency of the department and services performed
• Communicates with employees, applicants, vendors, and other internal or external customers regarding Human Resource policies, benefits, and procedures
• Examine employee files to answer inquiries and provide information for personnel actions
• Record data manually or electronically for individual, departmental, or organizational files or reports
• Compile, prepare, and distribute reports and documents pertaining to personnel activities
• Assist with preparation for and participate in administrative staff meetings, conferences, or special events/activities
• Maintains human resource information system records and compiles reports from the database
• Assist with maintaining compliance with state, federal, and other regulatory entities
• Perform other related duties as required and assigned
QUALIFICATIONS AND COMPETENCIES:
• Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in a human resources position preferred
• Degree in Business or Human Resource Management preferred
• Experience in a Human Resources, Legal, Municipal, or Healthcare environment preferred
• Proficiency with MS Word, Outlook, Excel and Power Point required
• Proficiency with Human Resource Information System (HRIS) or database maintenance required
• Must be detail-oriented, have the ability to multi-task, and have excellent time-management skills
• Must have the ability to learn quickly, work independently, and demonstrate flexibility with assignments
• Must exhibit a professional demeanor with ability to work in a collaborative environment
• Must maintain strict confidentiality and exhibit trustworthy and ethical behavior at all times
• Must exhibit active listening skills and the ability to address issues in a calm and helpful manner
• Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Bilingual English/Spanish preferred
• Must be able and willing to work Monday through Friday, 8am – 5pm and overtime if needed
ENVIRONMENTAL AND PHYSICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:
• Must pass criminal background check (clear of offenses barring employment by facility’s regulatory and accrediting agencies)
• Work is performed indoors within climate-controlled conditions
• Must be able to sit for prolonged periods of time
• Occasional lifting and transfers of loads of less than 30 pounds
• Mostly business casual attire required, but professional attire required occasionally
• Possess valid Texas Driver’s to drive in/out or within the facility
• Access to reliable transportation
