Sylvia S. Romo

Sylvia S. Romo is a certified public accountant, a licensed investment professional, a businesswoman, former Texas legislator, and former elected Bexar County Tax Assessor-Collector. Ms. Romo provides consulting services to individuals, businesses and non-profits in the areas of Federal taxation and property taxation including business strategy and personal financial advisory. She was an investment representative with the investment firm, Teamwork Financial Advisors. She also served as an adjunct professor at the University of Texas at San Antonio, teaching courses in public budgeting and taxation. In 1996, Ms. Romo became the first woman elected to the office of the Tax Assessor-Collector of Bexar County. She was responsible for the collection and disbursement of over 3 billion dollars of annual tax revenue, had an operating budget of $9.7 million and managed a staff of 250 employees. In 1992 and 1994, she was elected to the Texas House of Representatives. During her two terms in office, Ms. Romo authored more than 90 legislative bills, many of which were business related and signed into law. She received a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting from the University of Texas at San Antonio. She earned her Certified Public Accountant certification in 1981 and was licensed as a Registered Investment Advisor and a Texas Insurance General Agent in 2013.
